NEBRASKA PUBLIC SAFETY COMMISSION SELECTS MCP TO LEAD IMPLEMENTATION OF STATEWIDE NEXT GENERATION 911 SYSTEM

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (March 12, 2019)—Mission Critical Partners (MCP), a leading provider of independent professional, information technology (IT) and network support services for mission-critical infrastructure, was selected by the Nebraska Public Service Commission (PSC) to support its implementation of a statewide Next Generation 911 (NG911) system.

The implementation is the next phase of the PSC’s Next Generation 911 Service System Plan, a plan which was adopted by the PSC in 2017 and resulted in Nebraska LB993 being signed into law on April 4, 2018. The plan provides a comprehensive strategy and holistic approach to transitioning from the current Enhanced 911 (E911) technology to NG911. NG911 is a broadband-enabled, Internet-Protocol (IP)-based system that will empower the transmission of emergency calls and texts, with related multimedia in real time. The implementation of a statewide NG911 system will ensure that Nebraska meets the demands and expectations of today’s public and stays in step with the evolving technology landscape.

The MCP project team will provide technical assistance during the implementation of the 911 Service System Plan. MCP also will help Nebraska realize additional benefits as it deploys NG911, including the opportunity to regionalize and share costs and resources, as well as the ability to share operations in real time.

WE ARE HONORED TO BE ABLE TO SUPPORT NEBRASKA AS IT UNDERGOES THIS TRANSFORMATIONAL CHANGE THAT WILL HELP THE STATE REALIZE DRAMATICALLY IMPROVED PUBLIC SAFETY COMMUNICATIONS CAPABILITIES AND ULTIMATELY, ENHANCED EMERGENCY RESPONSE TO MAKE COMMUNITIES SAFER.” SAID KEVIN MURRAY, MCP’S CHAIRMAN AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER.

MCP and the Nebraska PSC began working together in 2017 when the commission partnered with the firm to develop a statewide NG911 Plan. The PSAPs supported by the Nebraska PSC serve nearly 2 million residents and process more than one million calls annually.
