Mission Critical Partners Announces Acquisition of Athena Advanced Networks, Enhancing IT Services Offering

STATE COLLEGE, PA (November 8, 2018) — Today, Mission Critical Partners (MCP), a leading public safety consulting and lifecycle management services firm, announced the completion of its acquisition of Athena Advanced Networks (Athena).

The acquisition deepens MCP’s information technology (IT) and managed services offering and reinforces its position as the industry leader in providing independent services for public safety infrastructure and operations. Additionally, this acquisition helps MCP strengthen its service portfolio and presence in key geographic locations and markets.

“Athena brings a broad understanding of IT that will enhance our ability to offer a holistic, third-party view of the entire public safety ecosystem, something our clients have been asking us to provide for some time,” said Kevin Murray, MCP chief executive officer. “Together, we share common core values and a deep commitment to helping our respective clients achieve their goals of improving emergency response outcomes.”

Since 2009, Athena has provided specialized IT services in over 25 states for more than 100 public safety agencies. Its proven ability to ensure the reliability of mission-critical systems and networks will strengthen MCP’s goal of providing clients with greater visibility and control of their IT infrastructure and networks while enhancing MCP’s expertise in maintaining and supporting computer-aided dispatch (CAD) and records management systems (RMS), as well as mobile applications.

“Becoming part of a larger managed services organization is a logical next step for Athena,” said Bruce Kelling, Athena chairman. “The integration with MCP provides an opportunity for Athena to combine its IT technical services with the broad array of services offered by MCP to provide our highly respected clients with the most comprehensive managed services programs available. We are excited about joining the MCP team in order to continue to support our public safety clients and expand our technology programs to serve a broader client base.”

The acquisition is aligned with MCP’s growth strategy of offering a comprehensive suite of capabilities to create greater value for clients to drive the public safety sector’s digital transformation. With the addition of Athena staff members, Mission Critical Partners now employs over 110 professionals solely dedicated to modernizing the nation’s aging public safety infrastructure.

“Having already worked together on several projects, it was clear to us that a partnership with MCP would create added value for our clients, partners and staff,” said Mike Lyons, Athena chief executive officer. “The combined organization of MCP and Athena offers a breadth of public safety related services that are unmatched in the industry. In collaboration with agencies around the country and our technology partners, MCP will make a positive impact on the way technology and IT technical services are leveraged in support of public safety and mission-critical communications for years to come.”
