Over the last several years, Mission Critical Partners aggressively has pursued acquisitions that expand the services and solutions that we can offer to clients in support of their missions. That work continues with the addition of Secure Halo, which is headquartered in Silver Spring, Maryland. This acquisition is the fifth executed by MCP in the last four years.
Secure Halo specializes in physical and cybersecurity solutions for local, state, and federal organizations, including the Department of Defense. The firm brings to MCP a team of seasoned analysts, technicians, and cybersecurity experts. Secure Halo has received a DHS SAFETY Act designation, which means that their cybersecurity assessments exceed the highest quality standards established by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Adding their services, solutions, and expertise focused on securing facilities, operations, and information systems to our already impressive portfolio is very exciting.
There was a time, not that long ago, that public sector organizations only had to worry about physical breaches. Today the much bigger threat concerns cyberattacks, which can take many forms — including denial-of-service and swatting attacks — but predominantly involve ransomware today, a specific type of malware that enables a cyberattacker to encrypt an organization’s files and then demand payment to decrypt them. It is a very lucrative business for cyberattackers.
The Secure Halo acquisition expands MCP’s portfolio of managed cybersecurity services, strengthens our talents and capabilities, and increases our capacity to secure mission-critical environments and provide operational resiliency. We have been excellent at what we do in this area for several years, but now we’re going to be even better, because the acquisition brings additional highly skilled and seasoned cybersecurity experts onto our team.
Moreover, they have been working for years on behalf of federal agencies, which represent the major leagues. The strategies and tactics that the Secure Halo team is using at the federal level will be adapted MCP’s cybersecurity experts for use at the local and state levels. Said another way, the ability to tap into the Secure Halo team’s knowledge of the threats occurring at the highest levels of government — and how those threats are being mitigated — will solidify MCP’s ability to identify, prevent, and mitigate threats against local and state government entities.
This is critically important because networks and systems at the local, state, and federal levels often are interconnected or integrated. It has been said that a chain only is as strong as its weakest link — and the analogy is well applied to cybersecurity in the public sector. The stronger the cybersecurity posture at every level the better, and with the Secure Halo team coming on board, MCP is in a much better position to address cybersecurity holistically across the entire ecosystem.
We are committed to growing and evolving as our clients’ needs grow and evolve, and as the environments in which they operate change. The Secure Halo acquisition is just the latest example — we’re not done yet, so stay tuned. In the meantime, please reach out — we would love to talk with you about how our expanded portfolio or services and solutions can enhance the security of your facilities, infrastructure, and operations.
