SEARCH Honors Mission Critical Partners’ Kathryn Monfreda

Will receive Gary R. Cooper Award for meritorious service over a career that spans nearly five decadesSTATE COLLEGE, Pa. (April 4, 2022)—The board of directors of SEARCH recently selected Kathryn Monfreda — who recently joined Mission Critical Partners — as the recipient of the 2022 Gary R. Cooper Award for meritorious service. SEARCH is a nonprofit organization that has supported information sharing in the justice sector for more than a half-century. The award is named for the organization’s longtime executive director and first was given in 1985.

Monfreda’s career spans nearly five decades. She began by serving as a police identification technician for the Menominee Falls (Wisconsin) Police Department before moving to the Alaska State Troopers as a latent print examiner. Monfreda then served for a dozen years as an identification technician for the Anchorage (Alaska) Police Department, where she collected, processed, evaluated, and identified latent prints; maintained the department’s tenprint fingerprint file; and processed crime scenes.

In September 2021, Monfreda retired from the Alaska Department of Public Safety, for which she served in a variety of roles for more than a quarter century, including director of the agency’s criminal records and identification bureau.

Monfreda joined Mission Critical Partners, a leader in professional and managed services for public-sector and mission-critical organizations, in March 2022, as a project manager. In this capacity, Monfreda will work on projects related to criminal justice information systems (CJIS). Monfreda is a certified latent print examiner, police instructor, and procurement officer who has achieved the following career highlights:

• Alaska state representative to the National Crime Information Center (NCIC)
• Alaska state representative to Nlets[1], including serving on its technical operations committee
• Alaska state representative to SEARCH, serving as vice chair and for two terms on its board of directors
• Member of the CJIS advisory policy board, while also serving on several subcommittees
• Member of the Western Identification Network board of directors and executive committee
• Chair of the Alaska Criminal Justice Information advisory board

Monfreda will receive the 2022 award on July 19 during SEARCH’s annual membership group meeting in Denver.
