Mission Critical Partners Recognized as a Top 20 Telecom Design Firm

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (July 10, 2018)—Mission Critical Partners (MCP), a leading consulting and lifecycle management services firm in the public safety field, has been named a Top 20 telecommunications design firm in Engineering News-Record’s annual sourcebook ranking, which recognizes the largest firms providing telecommunications design, consulting and engineering services in the United States.

The ENR sourcebook ranks firms based on previous year’s revenue. MCP was listed at No. 20 in the 2018 ranking, marking the firm’s fifth consecutive appearance in the Top 20.

The telecommunications industry remains strong for MCP, particularly in the public safety and 911 sector, due to a continued need to modernize the nation’s aging emergency communications infrastructure to better meet the needs of today’s citizens, who are increasingly relying on multimedia to communicate in emergency situations.

“IT’S AN HONOR TO APPEAR ON THIS DISTINGUISHED LIST AGAIN IN 2018,” SAID MCP CEO KEVIN MURRAY. “THERE ARE SEVERAL KEY TRENDS DRIVING GROWTH IN THE PUBLIC SAFETY SECTOR—AT THE TOP OF THE LIST IS THE TRANSITION TO NEXT GENERATION 911 (NG911) TECHNOLOGY AND THE NATIONWIDE PUBLIC SAFETY BROADBAND NETWORK (NPSBN) BEING IMPLEMENTED BY THE FIRST RESPONDER NETWORK AUTHORITY (FIRSTNET).”

Murray added that another driver is public safety’s increasing need to partner with other community stakeholders to use data and technology to improve emergency response, as well as sharing services to provide greater service while more effectively managing costs. “This benefits firms like ours that specialize in building resilient networks to meet these needs,” Murray said.

Major projects supported by MCP in 2017 include the following:

  • Broward County, Florida: Implementation of a new 800 megahertz (MHz) Project 25 (P25) digital radio communications system, with accompanying microwave backhaul system and fire station alerting system.
  • North Central Texas Council of Governments 911 Program: Development of a strategic plan to guide the migration from legacy 911 systems to NG911.
  • Pennsylvania Region 13: Engineering and management of a regional Emergency Services Internet Protocol Network (ESInet), to support emergency response efforts.
  • Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: Engineering and support for a broadband-enabled, IP-based network, and implementation of a new text-to-911 capability and new computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system for the city.
  • Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency: Telecommunications consulting and strategic planning to support NG911 services across the state.
