31-year veteran Ron Dunn will work closely with clients to modernize their mission-critical systems and operations
State College, Pa. (February 3, 2026) — Mission Critical Partners (MCP) has hired Ron Dunn as client services director for the firm’s southwest region, which includes the states of Arizona, Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming, as well as Southern California.
Across the public safety sector, organizations are grappling with an evolution driven by emerging technologies and an ever-changing operational environment. In this role, Dunn will work closely with clients in the southwest region to help them solve complex operational challenges and modernize the public safety communications networks, systems, and devices that support their missions.
“Ron has done everything there is to do in an emergency communications center (ECC) for many years,” said Rich Cagle, MCP’s chief growth officer. “This experience gives him great insight into what our clients are dealing with, making him a trusted advisor who will help clients solve real problems. We expect him to have great impact on the southwest region, for both MCP and the clients that we serve.”
Dunn also is a recognized national and regional leader in the public safety sector. He served as president of the Southern California Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials in 2023 and as a board member of California APCO’s Public-Safety Radio Association. He also earned numerous certifications, including the National Emergency Number Association’s Emergency Number Professional (ENP) certification.
He also is a noted innovator. For example, while serving as public safety communications bureau manager for the Riverside (California) Police Department, Dunn spearheaded the implementation of Automated Secure Alarm Protocol (ASAP) Service, the first such implementation in California. ASAP Service is a standards-based platform that automatically delivers alarm notification data directly into an ECC’s computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system. The result is significantly faster dispatch of emergency responses, fewer errors and miscommunications, and less stress for 911 telecommunicators.
Dunn began his career in public safety communications in 1994 as a communications dispatcher for the San Bernardino (California) Sheriff’s Department. Six years later, he was promoted to supervisor, a role he held for seven years before serving as a communications manager for the department for nine years. In this role, Dunn hired, trained, directed, and supervised personnel on all shifts, developed and implemented policies, procedures, and capital improvement plans, and oversaw major technology implementations, including new 911 and radio systems. In 2016, Dunn transitioned into communications leadership roles with several Southern California law enforcement agencies.
Prior to beginning his career in public safety communications, Dunn served six years in the United States Air Force as a law enforcement specialist, followed by 18 years in the reserves, retiring as a master sergeant.
