MEMPHIS, TN. (January 11, 2018)— The city of Memphis and its police department announced the opening of its newly-redesigned $9 million, 20,000+-square-foot state-of-the-art facility that will serve as one of two primary answering points for all emergency and non-emergency calls for Memphis police, fire and emergency medical services. The completion was celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
Mission Critical Partners (MCP), a provider of professional services and lifecycle management solutions for mission-critical infrastructure, teamed with Memphis-based architecture firm Fleming Architects and the Shelby County 9-1-1 Emergency Communications District Board of Directors to provide planning, design and project management support over the three-year project period. This same team continues to work on the renovation of an adjacent space where the Memphis fire department will move its public safety answering point (PSAP) in late-2018.
“THIS UNIQUE MISSION-CRITICAL FACILITY REQUIRED SPACES AND SYSTEMS DESIGNED TO MEET THE DEMANDING, EVER-EVOLVING NEEDS OF THE PUBLIC SAFETY INDUSTRY,” EXPLAINED RAYMOND CHIOZZA, DIRECTOR, SHELBY COUNTY 9-1-1 DISTRICT. “THE MCP TEAM BROUGHT WITH THEM KNOWLEDGE THEY’VE GLEANED OVER YEARS OF WORKING IN PSAP ENVIRONMENTS AND WERE ABLE TO PROVIDE FLEMING ARCHITECTS AND OUR OTHER PARTNERS WITH IMPORTANT INSIGHTS ABOUT DESIGNING AND BUILDING A FACILITY AND SYSTEMS THAT BEST MEET THE NEEDS OF MEMPHIS PD COMMUNICATIONS.”
“The completion of this state-of-the-art communications center is a huge milestone,” said MCP President & CEO Kevin Murray. “We are proud to continue our work with the city of Memphis and the rest of the project team on the second phase of this project and look forward to coming back to celebrate the completion of the Memphis fire department PSAP later this year.”
